new frag system

I currenlty have a Dt that is roughly 100 gallons with about 25 gallons in the sump. I want to start a small 20 gallon frag tank.

Can I plumb the frag tank into my DT or would that be a bad idea?

The reason I want to plumb it in is because it would benefit from the stability of the larger tank.

Thanks

I'd keep them seperate. If something ever fails in your main system you'll still have your frags to rebuild. Weekly water changes will keep the water quality good w/ the smaller tank

I would say to plumb it in with the ability of shutting it out completely. The stability will be good as well as no additional work to keep the frag tank up and going. What will you be fraging? SPS, LPS, softies, or all? The only thing I could see with the previous persons advise is if you are doing sps only and some how you had a mass RTN incident, other than that you would more than likely have enough time to shut the tank down and isolate it if something else did happen.

I am running mine plumbed directly into the main system with a valve so i can flush it each day. and once it runs a couple hours i shut the valve back off incase there is a issue in the dt.
